OVERVIEW

“A big group of 10 of us recently wanted to visit Cappadocia but did not want to sign up for a pre-made itinerary. Luckily we met Cansu and Istanbul Tour Studio. They took care of everything for our trip, including finding an amazing guide, transfers, creating a custom itinerary and suggesting amazing dining options. I highly recommend working with them for both Istanbul and beyond.” Read more on Tripadvisor.

One Day in Cappadocia

Do you feel like traveling to a place that appears out of this world? Then look no further than Cappadocia! If a moonscape had an exotic twist, it would be Cappadocia. From its surreal hot air balloon rides to underground cave dwellings with thousands of years of history seeping through the walls, discovering all that this fairytale land has to offer is an unforgettable experience for any adventurer. But don't take our word for it - come see why stepping foot into Cappadocia, arguably the most extraordinary region in Turkey, if not in the world, is something even fairy tale characters would do!

This full-day Cappadocia tour will introduce you to the amazing attractions of Cappadocia with a focus on its foremost highlight: the dreamlike landscape. By making several scenic stops as well as comprehensive visits to the most interesting sections of the topography, you will gain an insight into not only the geological processes that fabricated the wondrous surroundings but also the troglodytic life that persisted throughout the region.

Highlights:

  • Cappadocia Open-air Museum: the acclaimed Göreme Open-Air Museum is famous for its rock-hewn Byzantine churches exquisitely frescoed with Christian iconography

  • Devrent Valley: Devrent Valley, also known as Imagination Valley, is a unique geological formation located near the town of Goreme. This surreal landscape is filled with eroded rocks in various whimsical shapes, from animals to traditional houses. It's the perfect place for a day of exploration - with each step you take further into the valley, you can discover something new and unexpected!

  • Cappadocia Cave Churches: these caves have served as important places of worship for over 1,000 years! From ancient frescoes that decorate the walls to intricately carved columns, these caves are truly a sight to behold.

  • The iconic Çatalkaya: Catalkaya is a nature lover's paradise! From the striking landscape of cave dwellings to the vast array of outdoor activities, there's something for everyone.

  • Zelve: Zelve is an ancient village located in the Cappadocia region of Turkey. It has been inhabited since at least the 8th century, and its fascinating cave dwellings have attracted visitors from all over the world. An array of historical sites, such as churches and monasteries, can be found within these caves. The village has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its unique culture, architecture, and landscape.  Paşabağı: Visitors are mesmerized by the beautifully shaped mushroom-like rocks, carved out dwellings and fairy chimneys –  Pasabağı is a must-see!

  • The town of Avanos renowned for its multi-millennial handcraft of pottery

  • The imposing citadel of Uçhisar: Uchisar is a picturesque village in Central Anatolia, Turkey. It’s famous for the unique location of its castle, perched atop the highest point of the nearby Erciyes mountain range. With its stunning views and natural beauty, Uchisar is one of those places that takes your breath away. This charming village isn't just about the citadel though. Traditional stone houses line the narrow cobblestone streets, while vibrant shops and cafes line the main square.

  • The astoundingly intricate underground city of Kaymaklı (optional): Kaymakli Underground City is one of the largest and most impressive in all of Turkey. Its maze-like network of tunnels stretch 30 meters deep, with more than 8 levels of connected chambers that were used to hide, store supplies, and even live in during times of conflict. It's estimated that this city could have housed thousands of people, so it's no surprise that kaymaklı is often referred to as the "subterranean city of myths and legends."
